A port city, rich with trade and tales, Stormpoint began its life nestled between the tempest sea and three ancient, but thriving kingdoms. To the North and West, the mountainous Kingdom of Thrukal (modern Ogrekvania) provided strong defense for the newborn vassal, as well as much needed labor and ore.
To the East and North, lay the oldest and most turbulent of the three kingdoms--Dominia. In the year 32 O.R., the original empire of Dominia fell when its royal family was slaughtered by an usurper to the thrown. Rebellions ensued, with various degrees of success, and the kingdom was shattered into princedoms while the unified throne fell into centuries of constant war.
One of the princedoms borne of this bloodshed was the realm Darkendale, which lay to the East of Stormpoint. Marked by moors and shadowed hills and comprised mostly of small farms, hamlets, and villages, Darkendale boasted only one city of size, Darkendale Keep, which served as the monarch's capital. By protecting his own boarder and ignoring invitations of alliances made towards him, the ruler kept Darkendale untouched. It thus stood for centures, unchanging as its vampiric Prince--a culture trapped in yesterday.
But while these lands gave protection to the fledgling city, much has changed since Stormpoint's inception. Darkendale and Dominia withdrew from the alliance in 873 O.R. and severed their connection to the port city. Ogrekvania thus stands alone as Stormpoint's sole protector, and the kingdoms to the East faded out of recent memory. It is widely speculated that they no longer stand and that the great forest which now lies to the east of the city overtook the land that monarchs once held, replacing towers of stone with monuments of bark and vine.
